I’m not a Democrat. I’m not a Republican. I hate politics almost as much as capers! Politicians lie and cheat, they are human beings like everyone else. They are not Superheroes and I don’t put them on a pedestal. I expect the people I vote for to represent my interests. I don’t care much for rhetoric and dogma, anyone can bullshit their way into office. The people I vote for have to put out!!! How do you know if they are full of shit??? VOTING. RECORD. Both McCain and Obama have them. Research. I don’t think many people put in the time to research the issues, they just watch the news and read the paper and let media propaganda guide their decisions. It’s lazy. If you’re going to be lazy, do the rest of us a favor and don’t vote at all. I respect a person for voting their conscience, even if they choose the other guy. I do not respect people who vote blindly, based on party rhetoric, tradition or baseless facts.
So here are my reasons for choosing Barack Obama this Nov.
1- IRAQ.
The Iraqi gov’t has a surplus of 80 BILLION dollars. Yet the US gov’t continues to pump 10 BILLION dollars a MONTH into Iraq!! WTF!!!???? McCain supports this. Obama does not.
2- AFGHANISTAN.
Obama wanted to send 2 Divisions into Afghanistan, McCain said it wasn’t needed. Guess what?? Obama was right. Bush shot his wad in Iraq, leaving Afghanistan vulnerable and where do you think Bin Laden and Taliban are hiding out, training, recruiting and planning the next attack on the US?? That’s right. Afghanistan. (and probably Pakistan- we should kick some ass there too) I personally have been saying the same thing since 9/12/01. Afghanistan should have been the center of the “War on Terror.” Bin Laden should not be free, he should be dead. Doesn’t this bother anyone else??! Until we catch him, all those people who died on 9/11 died for NOTHING. This makes my blood boil.
3- FOREIGN POLICY.
Bush destroyed America’s reputation overseas. Don’t believe me? TRAVEL.
McCain voted along with Bush 90% of the time. He is just as responsible for destroying America’s reputation as W. Obama voted against Bush. Didn’t change anything but at least he tried. As President, he will have the power to do much more than try, and hopefully he will begin to heal our nations’ reputation in the international arena. I am tired of pretending to be a Canadian when I am in Europe, eh!
4- TAXES.
Under Obama’s plan, I will save $2,200 a year on my taxes. Under McCain- zip.
Pretty cut and dry there. $2200 will buy a lot of weed. (see #11)
5- ENVIRONMENT.
Obama has consistently supported environmental groups like Defenders of Wildlife. McCain’s support has been minimal. I like the environment. I like animals more than I like most people. I want my great grandkids to breathe clean air. The environment is all we have, once it’s gone, so are we, and taxes and foreign policy will mean fuck-all. Just sayin’
6- PATRIOT ACT.
McCain voted for it, Obama strenuously opposed it. Most people have never read it. I have. It’s like something out of Orwell’s “1984″. It gives the government way too much power over our individual rights. I’m not the paranoid type at all, but the Patriot Act is everything this country is NOT. Out forefathers are rolling in their graves. Hopefully, Obama will flush it shortly after he (hopefully) wins in Nov.
7- MINIMUM WAGE.
YES, George, we are in a RECESSION!!!!!! Holy fuck, does he never leave the White House??! Does he know how much milk costs??? Gas??? Hershey Kisses? The latter has gone up 12 cents a bag!!! You know what, you can do what you want with gas, I’ll just go fewer places, but do NOT fuck with my chocolate!!
I know a lot of people trying to survive on minimum wage. It’s not enough. Not even close. Obama has voted to raise it every time. McCain has voted for and against it an equal number of times. Ok, what’s up with that?? Either you are for it or against it!! Score another one for Obama!
8- ABORTION.
I hate when religion gets mixed up with politics. This country was founded by people fleeing religious intolerance! And now some politician wants to tell me I can’t have an abortion b/c God says it’s murder?? I don’t believe in God, so it hardly seems relevant to me. I don’t want someone else’s morals shoved down my throat. If a woman gets an abortion, that is between her and her god. Period.
Obama has supported Pro Choice organizations 100%.
McCain has supported Pro Choice organizations 0% and Pro-Life organizations 75%.
This concerns me. Could Roe v. Wade be overturned in my lifetime? Yes. And that would be a huge step back into the Dark Ages for the USA.
9- CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
I’ve been associated w/ law enforcement most of my adult life- from being an intern with the York Co. Prosecutor’s office in VA to getting my Master’s in Forensic Science. I know crime. Criminals are my business and business is good! You would think that I would be for the death penalty right?? Nope. It’s not that I don’t believe some criminals should pay, with their life in some cases, it’s just that our justice system, even though it is the best in the world, is FLAWED. There is a saying- “it is better to let some guilty people go free than to convict and innocent man.” Yet, the recent advances in DNA have proven that we have convicted many, many innocent men. There are innocent people on death row right now. (go check out the Innocence Project if you want exact numbers) We have executed people who were later discovered, through DNA evidence, to be innocent. There are no takebacks where the death penalty is concerned. This is why I am against it. Life in prison will have to suffice. Or maybe the world needs a few more “Dexter’s”.
Obama and I are on the same track. He has voted for a Federal moratorium on capital punishment. McCain voted against the moratorium.
10- STEM CELL RESEARCH.
If you don’t think this is an important issue, just wait until you or someone you love gets Alzheimers. I just spent a week with my grandfather in his nursing home and it’s not pretty. It strips you of everything that defines you as a human being. It is a horrible way to die, worse than any physical ailment. We have got to get a grip on this disease and all the others that stem cell research could help.
Again, this is a case of politicians forcing their religious morals on the whole of society. Obama supports FULL stem cell research. McCain voted to allow research on already existing cells and is against collection of new cells. Which gets you nowhere.
Last but not Least, a subject close to my heart:
11- LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA.
Do people even know why it was banned in the first place?? Du Pont? Cotton industry ring a bell?? Hemp takes over as main textile and cotton industry goes down the toilet. Lots of powerful people lose billions of dollars- no more silver spoon babies. Marijuana is an absolutely 100% natural PURE product. Even alcohol has to be distilled before you can drink it! Yet, the latter, is legal and MJ is the devil. It’s just plain stupid. Legalize it. Tax it if you must, but legalize it!!
I could write a whole book on this topic so I’ll stop now.
Obama supports the legalization of medical MJ. McCain, does not. Boo hiss. McCain is clearly in dire need of a toke.
So that’s it. There ya go. Obama is THE MAN and he gets my vote b/c he represents MY interests and I believe he can turn this country around, for the better! Plus, have you seen his abs?! ;D
It’s ok if you vote for the other guy, I’ll still like you, but you better have a good reason!!! Feel free to keep sending me anti- Obama emails, I do read them and take them into consideration! (and then DELETE with prejudice! lol)
Hey, what’s wrong with capers?
What’s not to love? They are green, they are cute, and in a pinch the big ones will substitute for a green olive in a martini!
All kidding aside, Barrack Obama is our only hope.
Capers are evil little fuckers!! They look like little green rabbit turds!
Yes. Yes, he is. I will be out there campaigning until the last vote is counted! We should get together and put Obama signs all over town! And one in Angie’s front yard! LOL
I do have friends that are voting for McCain, but none of them have explained why, and I really would like to know! I just can’t imagine anyone wanting 4 more years of the same bullshit! I am trying to understand their point of view. If they would just say “McCain is Pro-Life and so am I” or “I don’t need a tax cut, I am rich!” or “McCain spent a lifetime voting the same way I would have voted”….anything other than “I don’t like Obama, what has he DONE?!” That’s the one that irritates me most, b/c the man has done a LOT. I read his book “Audacity of Hope” long before he announced he was running for Pres, and when I finished I said to myself “this man needs to run for President, America NEEDS him.” And we do.
you have now lit a fire under my ass too, thank you chica. Write more please I loved reading it!!!!
TY! ((RENE))

Seriously.
An open letter to the people
I am not here to influence your opinion one way or the other. It’s up to you to find your own truth.
I will post my own opinion based upon whatever story I am linking to. If I say McCains got skeletons.ghosts.issues in his closet, that’s my opinion based upon what I know dating all the way back to his war-time service and the Forrestal Incident.
I am fully up to date on John McCain and voted for him in 2000 and wished like the devil he beat out Bush. He really was the best man for the job then. I believe most people that take the time to study the voting records of the Candidates know this as well.
Unfortunately for us and for him, he is following Bush and what we do not need right now in the USA is four more years of Bush.
I don’t know your age and it really doesn’t matter. Think on this. We’ve just been attacked. Does your president sell you on the idea of savings bonds and investing in your countries future ability to fight the war or tell you to go out and spend money like there is no tomorrow.? Look at us now. We followed that idea of spend spend spend and we, as a nation, are deeper in debt than we were during the Great Depression. So, was the Bush plan to spend our way into prosperity a good one or very ill conceived.?
Why does it take ten years to get a good line of vehicles on the road that get 40+ mpg when just two generations ago we tooled up and fought a war on two fronts in less than a year.? McCain thinks we need ten years to get going. Obama has a plan to get us going in less than half that. I know a oil-billionaire that wants to put up some wind generators on some land en-masse to get us off of our dependance on foreign oil imports. You know we can do it in three or less if we apply the same attitudes to today’s problems as our (grand)parents did.
McCain wants to drill the ANWR and California. What they are not telling you is that the energy resources there would supply this country’s needs for less than a month. Of course we should drill more wells and of course we should build at least four new refineries at a minimum.
What they are not telling you is that we are drilling more wells. In fact, I know personally of fifteen new wells that went up in the last four years in my backyard. I also know that Wilmington Crude is up from 300 barrels per day to 3,000 (maybe more). Conservation is up, demand is down, Drilling is up, Production is up, the Reserves are up… we don’t need to increase those numbers any more than we already are. What we need is to conserve more and that means tax companies that send american jobs overseas and give tax breaks to american companies that create jobs here. That means the Big Three auto makers could have us all in brand spanking new cars in less than five years that get 40+ mpg.
McCain won’t do that.
Barack Obama will.
I hope he remembers the $600 billion dollar give-away to the richest of the rich to create jobs four years back and what a fiasco that was. The money could/should have been spent on this nations infra-structure. If we still had that money today, the government could take just ten percent ( 10 % ) and give up to an average of $6,000 to 10 million americans to take gas-guzzlers off the roads and purchase new cars that get 35+ mpg from any car manufacturer. In one year this would cause the necessity to import oil to drop so much it’s hystyrical.
It wouldn’t be a free give-away. The person recieving the money could get it as a voucher to be used at an Auto-Dealership in much the same way hundreds of thousands of people got their checks from the Oil Companies in California some ten years ago that led to a substantial decrease in air pollution. Heck, Government wouldn’t even have to get involved if the big ten oil companies that cleared well over 100 billion dollars in profits in the first quarter figured this out on their own.
Barack Obama believes in change. He has the voting record that reflects this. We don’t have the time or the luxury for John McCain to figure out how close we are to the tipping point.
.
Wow, all I can say to that is WORD. You hit the nail on it’s ugly head. $600 billion dollars to repair a country we tore apart and Bin Laden is laughing his ass off. Joke’s on us.
The really fraked thing about that $600 billion dollar give away to create jobs never created any that lasted. The nation went further into debt. we ended up borrowing from the Chinese to the tune of trillions.
Done right, that $600 billion would have created well over 5,000,000 jobs in the private sector for professionals and laborers to repair the infrastructure over a ten year period that would have at the same time prevented home-foreclosures, it would have put spending money into the pockets of millions of people that in turn would have created more jobs for americans in the service sector and etc.
We desperately need a WPA for the 21st century.
McCain won’t go there.
Barack Obama will go there because he is forward thinking.
.
I am going to write in your name on my ballot, t-As. lol Hope you don’t have any skeletons in your closet!
